چکیده
Of these six precipitation methods, I, II, and VI best minimize AA interference. Despite the greater dilution involved with the unbuffered PEG method, the degree of interference is similar to that found with methods III and IV. AA is known to oxidize rapidly in the presence of oxygen, especially at high pH values (6), and this may be the mechanism by which the interference is decreased in the time it takes to obtain and assay the HDL-containing supernate. The manganese in the heparin-Mn(fl) methods may decrease the interference in a similar way. Interference by AA, for all precipitation methods, may be insignificant for most patients’ sera, especially if the specimens are stored for at least a day at 4 #{176}C, which will result in significant losses of ascorbic acid. However, choice of a precipitation reagent such as VI apparently would minimize such interference, especially in specimens with an unusually high AA content resulting from administration of vitaminC.

Hematological and Serum Biochemical Analyses in Experimental Caprine Besnoitiosis
This study was undertaken to investigate the hematological and biochemical changes in experimentally infected goats with Besnoitia caprae from the time of infection till 360 days post-infection (PI). Six male goats were inoculated subcutaneously with 13 × 10(7) bradyzoites of B. caprae, and blood samples were collected from the jugular vein. The total erythrocyte and total leukocyte counts, hem...
متن کاملReference data on the anatomy, hematology and biochemistry of 9-month-old silver foxes.
Anthropometric, anatomical, hematological and biochemical reference values were estimated in clinically healthy male and female 9-month-old silver foxes. The coefficients of variation of anthropometric and anatomical measurements for 9-month-old silver foxes were as low as previously reported for adult foxes. However, in relation to body size, all measurements were smaller. Compared with adult ...
متن کاملThe biochemistry of runners in a 1600 km ultramarathon.
OBJECTIVE To investigate biochemical changes related to muscle breakdown, hepatic damage, hyponatraemia, and a number of other variables in the serum of participants in a 1600 km ultramarathon run. METHODS Blood samples were obtained from nine participants (seven men, two women) in a 1600 km foot race before, after 4 and 11 days of running, and at the conclusion of the event. Samples were ana...
متن کاملReference values for 27 clinical chemistry tests in 70-year-old males and females.
BACKGROUND Reference values are usually defined based on blood samples from healthy men or nonpregnant women in the age range of 20-50 years. These values are not optimal for elderly patients, as many biological markers change over time and adequate reference values are important for correct clinical decisions. OBJECTIVE To validate NORIP (Nordic Reference Interval Project) reference values i...
متن کاملNormal reference-intervals for 20 biochemical variables in healthy infants, children, and adolescents.
We determined normal reference values from data on sera of 2099 outpatient children (ages one week to 14 years) at our institution. Using a continuous-flow instrument (SMAC, Technicon), we determined the following analytes in each serum sample: glucose, creatinine, uric acid, inorganic phosphorus, sodium, potassium, chloride, total CO2, iron, cholesterol, triglycerides, total protein, albumin, ...
